Types of water supply systems

Centralized water supply is able to provide water to a large number of consumers connected to one or more water sources - a common water supply network. The quality of drinking water is regulated by the State Standards of Ukraine. According to their purpose, such water supply systems are divided into three types: industrial, fire-fighting and domestic drinking. Autonomous water supply systems are intended for private use only and are capable of supplying water to a small number of consumers. They are widely used to supply water to homes, as well as summer cottages and cottages.  

Hot water recirculation system

A hot water recirculation system is an engineering system that provides constant or timed circulation of hot water in the DHW circuit and ensures that hot water is always supplied to the consumer. Due to the cooling of hot water on long sections of the pipeline, a recirculation system is provided in the water supply project. Such a system requires a circulation pump and additional piping materials, and the recirculation loop consists of an additional main pipe closed in the loop of the DHW piping at the outermost device on the loop. To prevent heat leakage from the recirculation system piping, the piping must be insulated.

Cold and hot water supply is organized through a network of pipelines through which water is supplied to the consumer. Steel pipes are used for networks intended for fire protection. Installation of water supply systems is carried out after the design work is completed. At this stage, pipeline diameters are calculated and equipment is selected. The floor plans show the pipelines and equipment installation locations, as well as pipeline layouts and specifications for equipment and materials.

Installation of cold water supply pipeline

Installation of cold water supply piping systems is an important part of any construction, this process must be carried out in accordance with the rules and regulations of DBN and DSTU. For such systems, pipes and fittings made of the following materials are used: plastic, polypropylene, polyethylene, polybutylene, fiberglass, copper, galvanized steel, and others.

Installation of a hot water supply pipeline

Polypropylene pipes with an additional foil layer are used. This is necessary to reduce the coefficient of their linear expansion when heated. Most often, polyethylene pipes (PEX) with push-on press fittings are used in apartment buildings. Such systems require a special crimping tool.
